Ubuntu 8.10 di Compaq Presario CQ45

Yang ini satu lagi notebook. Milik bos juga. Waktu beli 3 bulan lalu emang tanpa OS. Edisi yang pake OS lagi kosong. Karena maunya Compaq model ini, ya silakan deh. Tapi nyatanya notebook sampe sudah terisi Vista. Aneh juga kan. Dan dia seneng sekali karena dapat Vista :-D

Setelah bulan ke 3, dia datang sambil marah-marah. Kenapa pelan?

MIS sempet cek lalu kasih tau. Emang pelan nih!!! Gue minta downgrade ke XP. Tapi mereka coba tidak ada hasil. Cek ke support sitenya. Emang cuman untuk Vista. Belum dapat satupun solusi untuk install XP dari Google.

Lalu gue cek lebih detil lagi. Karena punya bos nggak enak kalo nggak bisa kelar problemnya. Akhirnya keputusan gue, coba full scandisk, install SP1 untuk Vista. Bah ... total 15 jam proses baru kelar tuh. Dah hasilnya mengecewakan. Masih pelan sekali :-(

Duh ... gue paling benci OS yg satu ini. Bener nyusahin. Apalagi bos yang satu ini orang Korea. Susah percaya sama orang. Bener-bener menyebalkan kalo dia datang dan liat masih nggak ada solusi dari MIS. Padahal Vistanya yang resek. Bukan divisi gue. Mending gue install Ubuntu deh. Paling nggak Ubuntu nggak lemot seperti Vista. Dan paling nggak dia tau kalo problem di OS. Bukan hardware seperti yang gue pernah bilang ke dia. OK. Kalau diliat dia cuman baca-baca internet dan cek email, nggak ada salahnya kasih coba.

Instalasi Ubuntu 8.10 berjalan lancar. Dan berikut ini hasil command "lspci":

Hampir semua terdeteksi dengan baek. Compis juga langsung jalan karena VGA nya pake Intel. Cam langsung OK. Wireless juga OK.Bluetooth OK. Sepertinya OK semua kecuali sound aja tuh nggak berfungsi. Ini terdengar jelas keanehan sound saat login GDM. Sound akan mengulang-ulang tapi nggak sempurna.

Setelah ke UbuntuForums.org dapat solusinya. Tambahkan 2 baris berikut di file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base:

options snd-hda-intel model=hp-ma
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

Dan setelah restart, sound sudah berjalan sempurna. Perfect.
